Black and White Square Project
This is my first project in the class, I decided to use the overlapping effect of the squares to achieve each adjective. In the first one (left), I portrayed the word "playful" by rotating the square shape and use the dynamic of the orientation to achieve the playful effect. In the second one (middle), I related the word "congested" with traffics. So I imagined each little square as a vehicle, used large areas of black, and filled the white parts with squares to make the composition reflect a sense of congestion. In the last one (right), the word "increase" made me think of the sizing variation caused by perspective. So I changed up the sizing of the squares to render a sense of increase in depth.
Black and White Shape Composition Project
The word "active" reminded me of the beaming of radiation. Therefore, I used different blending mode and many different grey-scaled circular shapes to convey a sense of activeness. The word "mysterious" reminded me of a dark, cloudy sky. So I created organic cloud shapes with vector tool and used blending mode to make the circles and the organic shapes overlap. The word "passive" reminded me of straight lines, so used overlapping straight lines created by the rectangle vector tool and some organic shapes to achieve a sense of passivenss.
Fence Repair
I learned how to use the clone stamp tool and masking layer tool in this project. I also enjoyed manipulating the lighting in the creative version with blending mode, opacity, and gaussian blur.
Displacement Project
I created these displacement projects by learning to use the displacement feature in Adobe photoshop. Sources of used references are linked below.

Hybrid Animal Project
I created this project using a picture of my dog and a picture of my cat. I really struggled to keep the hairy texture that outlines my cat's face when I was trying to remove the background and my cat's body from the image. But ultimately I was able to sit through the tedious process of using automatic selection to get rid of the unwanted parts and then use manual selection and clone stamp tool to fix the rest.
Dispersion Effect Project
I really fell in love with the simple and easy process of creating the dispersion effect with brush tools and clipping mask layers. For this project, I mainly struggled with creating the brush tool to achieve the scattering effect of dispersion. I ended up making my own brush with overlapping vectored squares to get the angular effect of the dispersion I imagined.
All original photographs. The brush used on the top piece is made by myself and the brush used on the bottom piece is the Adobe Photoshop charcoal brush.
Fantastical Portrait
Art is a big part of my academic and I have always practiced fine art before directing my attention at digital art and design. Therefore, in this project, I incorporated many of my fine art pieces into the portrait as artistic elements. I used mostly dispersion effect, blending mode, and cutting out images with selection tool and clone stamp tool. Overall I am very satisfied with my performance in this project.

Vector Icons
I have always liked neon green, black and white as a color combination. In my opinion, icons are suppose to be attention grabbing and practical. So I chose daily objects as my theme. I mostly used the vector tool and pen tool in Adobe illustrator for this project.
Vector Landscapes
The first attempt (left), was done according to an in-class tutorial. I figured out how to use pen tool, selection tool and layers building to create simple, vectored design. Then I put those skills to work and created the piece on the right side according to a reference picture that I took myself. I intentionally changed the color palette completely to give the piece a more fall look and incorporate my digital design skill into this project.
Personal Logo Project
I wanted something angular and simple for this project. So I created some organic, angular shapes and used repetition and radial effect to make the logo. I also curved letters and rearranged text orientation to fit my name on the top of the logo.
Vector Portraits (Final Project)
For the final project, I created a black and white vectored portrait of myself. the process of selecting vectorized are was very easy and therapeutic. I initially did not know what to do for the background. The picture I chose was too bright and undermines the portrait. So I added a layer of pure black color on top of the photo and adjusted the opacity to make the photo shine through.
